Hooray! 3rd grade has come to an end. Your student has worked hard this year and have made many milestones. I would just like to say that it has been a privilege spending this year with your child. They have made each day interesting and I will miss each and everyone of them. I know I will see them in the hallways of Mills each day, but I wanted you all to know that if there is anything you need in the coming years please feel free to come and see me. I will always be here to help! Thank you for a wonderful year. Good luck in 4th grade.
WELCOME TO THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL! That's right we are in the last week of school and there still is work going on. We are finishing up the last of our cursive letters, taking final math exams, and doing a reader's theater production of "Rafunzel." This is a take on Rapunzel. The students were assigned parts and should be practicing them nightly so that they can have all their lines memorized for the play on Friday. There are 2 groups doing the same play, it should be interesting to see how the two interpret the production. They all seem very excited about it. I know the kids will be excited to hear that there will be NO HOMEWORK for the remainder of the school year, except to practice the play.
We ended out week with a birthday celebration for all the summer birthdays, and a farewell to Simon. Simon is leaving for Poland and will not be with us for the last few days of the school year. We all enjoyed giving him an "electric" send off to a fun summer.

Welcome back from spring break! I hope all of you enjoyed your time with your families. We have 33 days left of third grade. Hard to believe, but our time together will soon be coming to an end. Your little 3rd graders will soon be 4th graders (and not so little anymore). My hope for the last part of our year together, will be to help your student improve their writing skills and prepare them for moving on to 4th grade. We will be finishing up our cursive booklets, doing daily journal prompts, and work on completing a 5 paragraph paper. It is a lot of work and I am hoping that you all will assist in helping your child with their editing and creative writing skills. Let the countdown begin.
We are already coming to the end of the year! It is hard to believe that we only have about 36 days left of school. As we approach the end, more responsibilities are going to be thrust upon them. In the upcoming days, each group of 2 students (excluding the ELL students) will be doing a webquest on a planet in our solar system. In the above menu, you will notice Planet Webquest. In this section you will find all the materials and information your child will need to complete their "mission." The students were also given a packet, with the same forms, so that they do not need to print anything unless they lose their packet. Your student may need to complete some of this quest at home. They will either use the computer sites or use a book from the library. Lastly, the groups will be responsible for giving a presentation on their planet. They may choose to do it as a poem, a planet rap, a commercial or just a regular report. It is totally up to them. They were told to be creative and informative, so that everyone can learn the interesting facts about all the planets. It should be an exciting journey of our solar system.

As you explore our site you can find our daily schedule, read about special events and learning that is taking place, find current homework assignments, upcoming field trips and view cool projects. We hope that by visiting our classroom website, you will get a better idea of what we do everyday. Enjoy your journey!
Parents as we are now entering the 2nd quarter we are acquiring more responsibilities. As part of your child's reading grade the third grade team has decided to include Accelerated Reader tests. Each child should be able to take at least 1 test per week on an AR book. For those students who are reading longer chapter books they should be able to complete that book within 2 weeks.
ALL students are required to read at least 30 mins. a night. This can be any type of reading, but I highly suggest that this reading be their AR books. Students will take their AR tests either in the room on Monday or in the Library. Those that are not ready to take a test will be required to read their books during their recess time until the take a test.
Please keep in mind that the more a child reads the better reader, the better writer and the better student they become.
As of October 25th, a letter was sent home explaining that the third grade team will be grouping students for math. Below is the list showing which teacher will now be your math teacher:
